Final outcome☆

Additionally, to the evaluation as I have not mention about the show of my work yet.

As I have some sets of works that I would like it to be show in exhibition, I then have to decide and think about the composition of my work on the wall so I have try some compositions and take photos to keep record.

What does not went well through this process? I would say that first final composition the bus and london eye(I choose london eye just because the concept of it is called london eye then link to oue perception so it is not that relevant to what I have done in the project) but the print from lino is give a good picture of design. So, I then choose to put the underground sign pieces up instead. Another things that went not well is when I was experiment with the composition. I have used the masking tape to stick those work on but sometimes it is not stick and the work fall down to the floor and some part of frame are a bit damage by this situation.

What went well with put this work up?Moreover,I have also learn new skills that more than editing the work to show is how we put the work up. This show I have a support from Tony. He recommend me to use the electric wires holder clips( which is really good for hold my work up with out damage the work)to hold my frame up and double sided tape for my prints.

Recent galleries and Museums experience Part4♡

This will be the last galleries that I went before last strength to final outcome.

My recent experience is at Dulwich Picture Gallery. The exhibition that I have seen called ‘Cutting Edge: Modernist British Printmaking’ which is about Lino block printing.

“Ten Artists. One revolution. This summer, discover the pioneering printmakers who captured the spirit of 1930s Britain in this first major show of work from the Grosvenor School of Modern Art. Bringing together 120 prints, drawing and posters, Cutting Edge features iconic works from Claude Flight and eight of his leading students including Sybil Andrews, Cyril Power, Lill Tschudi, William Greengrass and Leonard Beaumont. “-information from https://dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/2019/june/cutting-edge-modernist-british-printmaking/

What I have seen in the exhibition( my own photograph of artist and designer work in the exhibition ) ;

Inspiration from this gallery support my outcome ideas which I aim to produce some prints and use it as a design on a different subject to present and gain people notice suffer from Deuteranopia colours blindness vision.

EVALUATION ♡*

EVALUATION ♡* DEUTERANOPIA

As an evaluation for this project, I compare the ending of the project to the project proposal that I have set out from the beginning. “I am aiming to produce a series of textiles samples that will represent to views and perception that individual could have to here, London. As time management planning, I have made a plan for each day what I would like to archive. “Then I slightly changed the outcome plan,” I will make a new mind map and create a more clear picture of both colours and the work itself to gain what I want to present later on that we all should notice and beware of the vision of them (colours blindness people) and try to understand them how much they might suffer from this disability. But, I would like my work to look fun rather than serious traditional work because it might create converge to my audiences more accessible.”

Then, I have done some prints samples both digital and physical. In summary, what I end up making are a series of subject inspiration take from here in London.

I was decided a bit late what I want to show to the audience and what should I present it with. Then I have ideas after the talk to tutor that I should do something that using less time than the embroidery. So I decided to do print instead. Additionally to prints, the prints are from developing research into lino block as well as the digital print I use secondary research to inspire me.

In terms of what has been a major achievement, I did have a chance to try more embroidery in this project and also have some more collage skills as mine achievement.

First of all, in the proposal, I have a plan to do some mixed media and embroidery and string experiment as an outcome for the project.

But at the end of the project, it is a crucial time to finish the outcome. So I would say that as my plan for the outcome has changed I would say that this is come out like what I was intended to do.

In terms of discoveries that I have made in this project is more research skills and practical skills on restricted materials.

The artists and designer that I have looked at their work that helps in the formation of my ideas. The ideas that I have so far are mainly influenced by what I have seen and visited so far in this course. Additionally, what I have inspired from the oil painting panel of King Edward VI by how he wanted to present the paint by certain point of view on the side and if look at the paint from the front is a completely different mood, the Bridget Riley, Melissa Blanchflower and Gary Card works by the various colours combination that they used for their works, the photography works of Maureen Paley’s works and some works from the 62 textiles artists group (Caron Penney by his weaving works, Gavin fry by his embroidery works and Marilyn Rathbone).

What I have mainly learnt from this project, more skills in research, time management, planning what to do, and influences from galleries and museums visit how the professional artists present their work.

In this project, I didn’t do much on historical research but kind of more contemporary. So this is one of the points that I should do better in a further project.

The textiles techniques that I have use experiments in the project such as lino block printing, embroidery and colours sensitive to composition.

Mostly, everything goes well with the plan, just sometimes the work not strong enough to present the views or the time that I didn’t allow on the time to go back and fix some samples.

In addition, even my route for this project at some point are vague and some point are too narrow, my main idea not completely change I still willing to present colours blindness people vision but what have change is how I have present this change from the embroidery to print because print is quicker process as well as embroidery samples that I have done are not really functional design to send a message to audience.

If I have allowed more time to samples towards the outcome they might be more quality and strong.

I did achieve what I want to do but nor the same as the plan in the proposal but is work on this print reconstructed combined with prints.

I want to improve my time management and research & mind map and brainstorm skills.

Additionally to the evaluation of the outcome, I choose to do deconstructing to what we normally see around us in London then present the vision of colours blindness ‘deuteranopia’ how they would perception colours differently from us.

In this series of work I have chosen the bus because I want to show how deuteranopia vision cannot perceive the red colour, the London eye is because it was the same colours when we look at it and Deuteranopia look at it, and the oyster card because underground is also a part of being here in London.

Planning, Time Management and show plan in the final stretch.☆☆

This is my plan towards final and how to use this last stretch time effectively.

I have the plan to finish all the blogs that still need to revisions, do a final images experiments, produce a lino or digital print, then develop the pieces and make a summary, make a print for final design, final models, photobook, prepare for setting up the presentation, set up the show, write a draft of evaluation and then write a final evaluation.

WEEKEND QUESTIONS BLOG.✿

WEEKEND QUESTIONS BLOG.✿

What has mine material investigation revealed?

As what has this revealed, my recently experimentation indicate how I used those materials combine with the skills that I already have and new skills that I have learnt through this project.

How do I want people to understand or engage when they look at my work?

I want to communicate something to my audience that looks at my work which is how colours blindness people are suffering from how there see colours in daily life even I am not having colour blindness. I still feel dismal for them. As I am at the point that this project is working towards the ending, my decision towards the outcome is to present the vision of the dichromacy called DETERANOPIA. By this, I mean their vision to popular sighting here in London.

I want to make my audience and even myself understand how they feel. Also, how would if we have colours blindness we never see the world in the same way again.

How do I intend to present my work to achieve this?

I aim and intend to take the sighting to make some secondary observations and then create lino block and deconstructed in digital to make both physical and digital print. This creates a functional textile and more meaning to my project than when I haven’t made this decision yet.

I will use the design that I have done and placed the design back onto that sighting.

I am planning to achieve at least 3 design samples for outcome present on the final deadline.

Recent Museums and Galleries experience Part 3.

As a recent museum visit, I have been to Fashion and textiles museum to see an exhibition called Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru which will be ending this September.

“For decades, designers worldwide have been influenced by the traditional textiles of Peru. Weavers of the Clouds explores the processes and practices of both historic and contemporary Peruvian costume via garments, textiles, photographs, tools, illustrations and paintings, dating from pre-Hispanic to present day.

Works presented include pieces by contemporary Peruvian fashion designers Meche Correa and Chiara Macchievello, photographs by Sebastian Castaneda Vita, Marta Tucci and Toni Frissell, Peruvian-inspired designs from Vivienne Westwood and Naeem Khan and a broad selection of both traditional and contemporary Peruvian art, produced in a multitude of fascinating mediums.

With many artists of all forms now looking to Peru for inspiration, this is a very exciting time to examine the history and future of Peruvian arts

Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru is supported by Kuna and Peruvian Connection.

Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru is accompanied by the display A Thread: Contemporary Art of Peru, showcasing the work of 17 Peruvian artists.

Curated by Claudia Trosso and supported by Martin Morales, the display will highlight the varied work of contemporary artists, working with traditional weaving and embroidery techniques, or interpreting the aesthetic of traditional Peruvian textiles and costume using modern mediums. A Thread: Contemporary Art of Peru will feature sculpture, painting, photography, mixed media and tapestry, revealing the versatility of contemporary art practice inspired by ancient textiles of the Pre-Columbian period.” – Information from https://www.ftmlondon.org/ftm-exhibitions/weavers-of-the-clouds-textile-arts-of-peru/

To find more inspiration with my specialism made I decided to go to this exhibition and I have found that this exhibition is really interesting and lots of amazing work is in there. As firstly, I would like to try to make a weaving sample to this project but due to the time consuming I didn’t have chance to explore and experiment it yet but it would be something that I would like to come back and experiment on it one day.

These are some images that I take from the exhibition.

As visiting several of museum and galleries so far not just for inspiration and knowledge in the different subject area also I have learnt how to present the work and these might lead to how to I want to present my work.sa

REFLECTIVE WRITING for Thursday 22th August.

REFLECTIVE WRITING for Thursday 22th August.

As a reflective to myself and my works today, after talking to Nikki and as I have done some experiments on my wall and it is showing and support me what did I have done so far and how clear it is to absorb, some of the works needed the texts to explain and some are already explaining itself, also some of the work such as the colour palette is unclear and confusing. So, I then think I needed to create a new one which only focuses on one issue rather than three. (Which I couldn’t decide yet)

Who is my audience?

Up to this point of the project, I didn’t think about the audience, to be honest, but while talking with Nikki, She said that I need to question myself who is it going to be my audience or user? Is this product for public or private?

She also suggests that my project need some meaning behind it before this talk I have not think about the meaning behind it that much I was more focus on the experiments and explore materials and techniques.

What is it? How the orientation will be?

I was doing Textile towards textiles in fashion before so now in this project I just would like to try something different so I then make those experiment which Nikki point out that those are textiles in terms of Fine artworks and would be much better if I work on functional design textiles. Due to I need to choose to focuses on one issue to make it easy to understand to me and my audience too. I will make a new mind map and create a more clear picture of both colours and the work itself to gain what I want to present later on that we all should notice and beware of the vision of them(colours blindness people) and try to understand them how much they might suffer from this disability. But, I would like my work to look fun rather than serious traditional work because it might create converge to my audiences more accessible.

Continue from the talk I choose to go back to this image from Pinterest and think about which one I would like to present the most.

Then, I think it is about what object I want to pick up too when I move away from earlier content as artworks that I saw.

So, I decided to do a mind map alongside writing this blog. In my mind map, I have possibility list of object or subject that I could take such as

Map (Underground map colours line)

Bus (London red bus and black bus that I have seen

and taken photographs while I was in central London)

London eye

Telephone box (Red)

London Bridge (Grey and blue)

Stonehenge (Grey)

Ballard

Lamp pole

Then, mainly of the object in the list are white, black, and grey and red so I think the most show the different of the colour perception would be Deuteranope.

After I have chosen this, I then have another idea of colours because the green wouldn’t be able to percept in Deuteranope, I would like to experiment on the tree images too.

A bit more about DEUTERANOPIA, “Deuteranope is a deficiency in colour vision in which those affected confused red, yellow, and green colours. Deuteranope is one of three forms of dichromacy, whose adjective is dichromatic. People with dichromacy are called dichromats, which means that they can match any colour with some mixture of just two wavelengths of light, whereas normally-sighted people are trichromats, meaning that they need three wavelengths of light to acceptably match any colour of light. Deuteranope affects more males and females. Those who have deuteranopia are sometimes considered to be green week because shades of dark green can appear to them as black.

An authentic work of art must start an argument between the artist and his audience.-Brandon Gaille

REFLECTIVE♡20/08/2019

As on reflective of my work so far, I have started a new project which I called it PROJECT. In my project, I have taken the ideas that I have explored in HERE(London, Peckham) project which is the colour explorations from black and white to colourful so my project then focuses on the colour perception of people that have a colours blindness issue. I stared with research on some colour blindness and get some primary research on what I have seen from the tours and my galleries and museums visit which investigate more about who produced these work and why. The main context of the project is the artwork.

Then, I have done some Pinterest research and collect a mood board that included what I would like to do in terms of my specialism for BA (Textiles) then I started with manipulate Bridget Riley work to 6 colours blindness issue and using the normal work so create pixel and circle pixel to mimesis the short-sighted vision how to blur they could see.

Then, I have use artworks that I have been collected in my research to make a lino block.

Then, I try the print on cotton and calico the plan to embroidery on top of the point with each colour from the print with colours with each colour from studies and also stick or stitch the ribbons on top of it.

What I have planned at the beginning but I didn’t do it yet are such as weaving experiments because I couldn’t find a piece of equipment and I didn’t have chance to do it from the inspiration and research not bring me towards weaving area.

Recently, I have done started to embroidery some colours on calico to practice and experiment in a different pattern. I also use my iPad Adobe Sketch to reconstruct an image that I took and recreate digital images which using the book called the fundamentals of printed textile design by Alex Russell.

From this drawing, I then would like to try to do more deconstructed which using the colours from colours palette that I have done from the three colours blindness issue; Protanopia, Deuteranopia and Tritanopia the reason that I choose to deduct the issue down to 3 issues is because I found that between the issues it looks like 3 pair of colours problems so I just choose to focus on the dichromatic vision instead of all of them.

Now, my plan what to accomplish as a final outcome still textiles samples which might be a series of mixed between these two experiments on fabric and paper.

Lastly, the next blog will be about my recent galleries and museum experiences (Fashion and Textiles Museum).
